In 2014, Oliver and Nick proudly set up RammSanderson Ecology, an independent, focused consultancy that offers a pragmatic and solutions-based approach to ecology.
Anthony Mellor quickly joined them, and through a program of organic growth and acquisition, RammSanderson now has over 60 employees across four locations, a testament to the collective effort and dedication of our team, employing some of the best people in the industry.
Here’s how it happened.
RammSanderson Journey
2014
Oliver and Nick set up RammSanderson Ecology Ltd on 1st May 2014, and Anthony Mellor joined as a shareholder.
By June 2014, we had employed our first full-time employee, and by December, we had passed the RISQS Network Rail audit.
2015
By May, we were a team of 10 people, and in September 2015, we opened our second office in Stafford, covering the East and West Midlands.
2016
In the spring of 2016, we had our first fleet of six vans; by April, we were a team of 20 people.
In June 2016, we moved our HQ from Diseworth to Ilkeston to allow us to keep expanding.
From 2016 to 2024, our team is involved in the East West Rail Alliance Bat Monitoring programme.
2017
By January 2017, we had expanded our services by employing our first in-house Arboriculture Consultant, a move that enhanced our capabilities and service offerings. We had also grown to a team of 35 people and opened our Sheffield office, extending our reach to the East Midlands, West Midlands, and Yorkshire.
2018
In 2018, we were awarded our first major Sustainable Urban Extension project. Our team reached 40 employees, and Andy rejoined and brought Habitat works in-house.
2019
Anthony Mellor was named Director alongside Oliver and Nick in June 2019, and we also passed our Achilles UVDB audit during the year.
2020
RammSanderson were delighted to be awarded the Severn Trent Framework.
2021
In 2021, we became a CIEEM Registered Practice
2022
In 2022, we completed the Bernwood Bat Monitoring and Radio Tracking programme, and in April, Anthony became an equal shareholder with Oliver and Nick.
2023
January 2023, RammSanderson became part of the Phenna Group and had a 50-strong team.
We were also delighted to retain our Severn Trent Framework position, and in December, we relocated our East Midlands HQ to Oban House in the heart of Beeston.
2024
In May 2024, we celebrated our 10th anniversary, and in the same month, we acquired NLG Ecology, giving us a greater regional presence in the north west.
